The history of Hobbycraft

Hobbycraft was founded in 1995 by the Haskins Group, a nursery- and garden supplier in the south of England. Met with overwhelming success in the UK, the brand has evolved from an arts and crafts shop to a nationwide business with numerous stores scattered across the country and beyond. In April 2010, Hobbycraft was purchased by the investment group Bridgepoint.

But it was during the 12-week lockdown of 2020 that Hobbycraft’s popularity went through the roof. With the demand for cheap craft supplies, jigsaws, baking kits and kids’ paint doubling, Hobbycraft recorded a 200% rise in internet revenues – a clear indication of what a successful online shopping hub can do for a brand. In addition, online searches for jigsaws rose by 380% (and pavement chalk by a whopping 654%), as more and more customers realised the value of filling their (and their kids’) time with creative and productive activities.

Hobbycraft was revealed as the Fourth Best Big Company to Work for in the UK in May 2021.
