TK Maxx, all the offers at your fingertips
Whereas outlet stores sell one manufacturer’s products, TK Maxx, an off-price retailer brand, offers a variation of thousands of vendors’ clothing, accessories and home/beauty products.
About TK Maxx
TJ Maxx is one of America’s most iconic retailers; however, the brand is known as TK Maxx in Europe and Australia to differentiate itself from the UK-based discount-department-store chain TJ Hughes.
Nevertheless, this doesn’t impact on the brand’s ability to offer a rich range of off-price branded / designer items, ensuring UK (and Ireland) shoppers continue to take advantage of lower-price excellence.
The history of TK Maxx
The American brand TJ Maxx was founded in 1976 by Bernard Cammarata, with the opening of its first two stores in Auburn and Worcester, Massachusetts. Greeted by enthusiastic shoppers across the country, TJ Maxx’s parent company (TJX Companies) expanded across the US, Canada and Europe, opening the first UK and Ireland stores in 1994.
It was also around this time that the brand modified its name to TK Maxx to avoid confusion with another British retail chain.
Around 2007, TK Maxx started slowing down with the opening of new stores in the UK and, instead, focused on revamping older inner-city stores. Germany received its first TK Maxx store that year (in Lübeck).
Two years later, TK Maxx launched its e-commerce site, tkmaxx.com, to UK shoppers. Although only handbags were initially available for online shopping, the site later expanded to offer more shopping potential.
TK Maxx continued to expand in Austria, Poland and the Netherlands, and eventually opened its 500th European store in 2016.
Although Tiendeo keeps you updated on all of TK Maxx’s freshest product brochures and promotional goodies, don’t forget about the customer perks awaiting you on the brand’s website.
