It was in 1963 that the F.W. Woolworth Company bought the Kinney Shoe Corporation to operate it as a subsidiary. During the 60s, Kinney specialised in stores selling shoes, including Stylco in 1967 and the first Foot Locker which opened in 1974 (in Puente Hills Mall, City of Industry, California).

Like most brands, some chopping and changing was necessary, especially in the beginning. And it was during the redesign of the brand’s logo in 1988 that the company got its iconic emblem.

Fast-forward to a few years later in 1996, when the brand joined forces with Toys ‘R’ Us to branch into shoes for kids with the toy store chain KidsWorld.

Today, the Foot Locker brand (which still focuses on first-rate brands, unisex athletic attire and footwear, etc.) still continues with successful day-to-day operations. And especially in Europe, this means hundreds of stores in premium locations, scattered across dozens of countries in order to provide nearly 50 years’ experience to shoppers.
