This company may never have existed if not for a feud between the Dassler brothers, Rudolf and Adolf.

Adolf (Adi for short) Dassler was a quiet and athletic man. As a child from he learned his craft from his father, a cobbler, and set up a small workshop in his mothers laundry room, in the German town of Herzogenaurach. Rudolf Dassler, Adi’s brohter, was the complete opposite of his brother, an outgoing man and natural born salesman, Nevertheless, in 1924 they went into business together, opening the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory.

The business may have prospered, but the brothers’ relationship did not. They bickered about politics and business and their wives couldn’t stand each other. In the late 1940s, Rudolf left the company and set up a rival just across the river in the same city. Adi changed the name of his company to Adidas while Rudolf registered his as Puma.

In 1954, the unexpected happened, and West Germany beat Hungary in the final of the football World Cup, taking its first ever championship. The West German players were wearing Adidas boots, which shot Adi straight to the front pages.

Today, the only descendant of the Dassler brothers in the company is Rudolfs grandson, Frank Dassler, who previously worked for Puma. These and other stories about the Dassler family can be found in the book "Sneaker Wars" by journalist Barbara Smit.

Adidas was founded in 1924 in Herzogenaurach and is now present in 160 countries. It employs more than 50,000 people, 50% of whom are men and 50% women. Its production exceeds 660 million units.

Known for their sponsorship and collaboration with sporting teams worldwide, the brand have been fortunate to work with leading icons such as David Beckham.

Adidas was established in 1924 by Adolf Dassier.

Their headquarters can be found in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

The Adidas Yeezy range saw the brand collaborate with Kanye West.

Adidas shoes are some of the leading ranges in the world!
