The history of Lloyds Pharmacy

It was in 1973 when Allen Lloyd purchased his first pharmacy in Polesworth, Warwickshire, UK. Since then, a slew of esteemed names in the medical / pharmaceutical sector have joined hands in the creation of LloydsPharmacy (such as Savory & Moore, Cross & Herbert and, of course, Lloyds Chemist and Hills Pharmacy).

In 1995, the UK’s leading pharmaceutical wholesaler, AAH plc, was bought by GEHE AG, also acquiring Lloyds Chemists in the process (who, by then, already had 902 pharmacies). Joining forces with AAH’s Hills Pharmacy network (and their 350 branches), the new combined group flaunted over 1,250 pharmacies.

In 2014, McKesson Corporation also bought our group of companies, with the UK group rebranding to McKesson UK in 2018.

Today, LloydsPharmacy is still relied on for convenient product purchasing (like slippers and fragrances), plus first-rate medical assistance.
